Find Penwood State Park on Rt. 185 between Simsbury and West Hartford. This is an easy mile walk one way.

Go to the right of the memorial rock and follow the paved path past the Metacomet Trail (on the left) and a red trail (on the right) at the end of Gale Pond. Keep walking until you see a woods road blocked by an old log gate (this trail is now blazed red) take this and watch for the place where that other red trail comes out onto this road. Shortly after this you'll see a red gate on the right followed by an old shack in the woods on the left followed by another red gate again on the right. From this gate take 25 steps along the trail and look under a large flat rock behind the smaller tree. No log book in this box.

Back on the trail go about another 25 steps and look left for two piggy back rocks (trees are down on both sides of the rock formation). Go halfway up and in the center of the two under smaller rocks is the Red Gate box. Watch out for the barbed wire.

Log book in second box. No ink in either box.
