Lake Michigan has many beautiful light houses. We commemorate these landmarks at one of lake michigans many port citys. Start at the upper lake park in port Washington. Park across from the all children's playground. Look for the Kiwanis family pavilion. Across from the pavilion is the upper lake park mountain bike trail. Start here. Begin walking down the trail. Be careful of bikers. You will see a electrical pole to your left. 45 paces down the hill you will see a broken tree to your left. Look inside. Box #1!
Head back up to the start of the trail.
Follow the tree line to your right. You will pass by large rocks to your right you will see a small trail behind some pines and an electrical meter pole. Continue walking along the tree line. You will walk amongst a cluster of trees. The pavilion will be to your left. From the corner of the pavilion closest to you count two trees to the tree line. Follow them. You will see a broken bush with an open bottom. Look inside. Box #2.
Walk over to the asphalt trail next to pavilion. You are leaving picnic area number 3. You will be passing a concession stand and a rest rooms as you make your way to the roadway. The beer garden will be to your right. When you get to the road way carefully cross both lanes to the staircase. This will take you to the north beach and give you a beautiful view of port Washingtons light house. Before you walk the lawn to the staircase look to the south west. You will see the historic light house that is now a museum. Begin down the stairs.when you get the bottom of the stairs look directly underneath the bottom steps. Box#3. Be careful of niggles. Lots are here.
Walk to your left to the beach. Notice the water quality sign. Be careful to stay out of the water if it warning you to do so. Walk past the emergency pole n1. At the emergency pole n4 walk about 70 paces. To your left is a dead log. Look to the bottom
End. Box #4! Stamp up and rehide well. Enjoy the beach or make your way to the ports actual lighthouse.

Hike length: 1-2 miles
