This letterbox is part of the GO and Be Active! program in York County, PA. It will be available from June 1, 2016 – August 14, 2016. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.

The GO and Be Active! program requires you to search for up to 30 “activities” – wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression (with a colored pencil or crayon) from the engraved plate onto your GO and Be Active! rubbing sheet, available at any York County Library.

This letterbox is located at Hanover Borough “Trails” (Guthrie Memorial Library) and should be accessed from the parking lot off Library Place. GO York! level of difficulty = Easy.

• Start at the main entrance of Guthrie Memorial Library (with your back to the door).
• Turn left and head toward Railroad Street.
• As you get to the end of the building, look straight ahead. _________ Insurance Agency is across the street. This used to be the old train station.
• Make a slight left, and cross the street and railroad tracks by walking over the white horizontal lines that are painted on the street. You are now on Eichelberger Street.
• Look to your right. What is the name of the restaurant across the street?
_________.
• As you continue straight, you will see a large brick building on the right and Hanover’s oldest tree (over 300 years old).
• At the intersection, make a right and carefully cross the street. You should now be on Stock Street.
• The Eichelberger Professional Building is on your right. What number is on the front? _________.
• Go to the next intersection and turn right onto McCosh Street.
• Continue on McCosh Street to North Street. Look across the street to the left and you will see Hanover Borough’s Recycling Center. What does the sign say on the brown shed? ________________ ______________________.
• Make a right onto North Street and stop at the next intersection. What is the name of the building directly across the street?
_________.
• Carefully cross the street and make a left. Cross the railroad tracks and make a right into the library’s parking lot.
• Go to the front door down on the right. As you enter the library, make a right. Go up two levels of stairs to the Children’s Library. The post can be found here.
