This letterbox is part of the GO and Be Active! program in York County, PA. It will be available from June 1, 2016 – August 14, 2016. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.

The GO and Be Active! program requires you to search for up to 30 “activities” – wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression (with a colored pencil or crayon) from the engraved plate onto your GO and Be Active! rubbing sheet, available at any York County Library.

This letterbox is located at Rocky Ridge County Park and should be accessed from the rear parking lot off Deininger Road. GO York! level of difficulty = Hard.

• Starting from the parking lot, walk over to the trail entrance with a yellow pole.
• Once past the yellow pole, make a right and start to follow trail 1 as it goes out underneath the power line.
• As you walk underneath the power line the trail will come to an observation deck. Take a moment to enjoy the view.
• Continue following trail 1 as it enters the woods.
• Walk about 300 yards into the woods on trail 1 until you come to a split in the trail. Make a right onto trail 2p and continue to follow the trail.
• As you are walking along trail 2p, you should be walking out along a ridge. The trail will eventually bend to the left.
• Next, you will come to an intersection in the trail. Make a left onto trail 2. This trail will start to head uphill.
• Continue following trail 2 out along the top through the woods.
• After walking out trail 2 for a while, you will come to an intersection with 2 benches. At the intersection make a left onto trail 1.
• Follow trail 1 down the slight hill until you come to another intersection. Turn right onto trail 8.
• Continuing to follow trail 8. You will come to a small wood bridge. Here is where you will find the rubbing post.
• Carefully cross the wood bridge and continue to follow trail 8 up the hill.
• At the top of the hill you will come to an intersection. Make a left back onto trail 1.
• Follow trail 1 back out to the parking lot where you parked.

Hike length: 2-3 miles
