Once you have arrived at the Everett Branch Library take a moment to admire the relief sculpture located at the front entrance. The sculptor’s name is Richard S. Beyer. He was interested in incorporating people and communities into art. This sculpture reflects the women who made having a library in Everett a possibility when circumstances were not ideal. The city of Everett owes a debt of gratitude for Mary Lincoln Brown and her Women’s Book Club and their perseverance to have a library established as we know it today.
As Everett has grown and has spread out from the “center of town” a new need for a branch library was recognized; In 1985 temporary housing was built for the “Branch” library, funding was raised for the permanent structure and it was opened in 1989.
My thoughts on the purpose of a library, is of course to inspire one to love to read. Books can take you anywhere, anytime, anyplace. Books make you wonder and ask questions and they help you find the answers. Then there is music, and movies, and all sorts of materials for you to explore and use.

Find the mystery section bookshelf location. ( Mysteries are under the category of “Fiction”). If not sure ask the Reference Librarian for assistance. Observe all the mystery books. You’ll need to get down-low to solve the mystery of this letterbox’s location!!!
