Ring Mountain, one of the highest peaks in Kendall County, rises above Joshua Springs Park & Preserve, a natural area on the banks of Little Joshua and Allen Creeks. There are several trails, a lake for fishing, and an event center on top of the mountain with panoramic views. Many weddings occur here, and I wonder if that is where the mountain gets its name?

Directions:
From I10 go north on FM 289 as it bends west and goes under I10. Go right then left into Joshua Springs Park and stay right on Joshua Springs Rd as it bends left to the parking lot. Go to end and park by lake.

Clues:
Walk south through gate on road across lake, being careful at the low-water crossing which can be slippery with inch-deep water. Go straight on Joshua Creek Loop to green post on left as trail bends left. Continue 17 steps, then go right 27 steps into woods to large oak tree. LB is at right base under a rock and leaves.

Hike length: 0.1 miles
