The Purgatory Creek Natural Area offers great hiking through meadows, juniper thickets and canyon bluffs. It has two sections, Upper & Lower, that are connected via Dante's Trail, and the Lower section also contains a Native American campsite where the only known metal arrowhead was found several years ago. You can read about it on the Historical Marker before finding this box.

Directions:
From I35 go NW on Wonder World Dr for 0.8 mile, left on Hunter, then immediate right into Lower Purgatory Creek Park.

Clues:
Walk on Dante's Trail past the historical marker at the Indian Campground and go left at first jct on Nimrod Trail to jct at dam. Go right and eventually up on top of dam then go right to jct with Ripheus Trail. Go left to power lines and soon bear right into woods to jct with Dante's Trail again. Go left on that trail to triangle jct with Ovid Trail. Just before jct go left off trail 13 steps to multi-trunk oak tree with LB at left back base under rocks and leaves.

Hike length: 1-2 miles
