Southeast Metro Park is a Travis County Park designed to accommodate several organized sports, but it also contains a 3 mile primitive hiking trail which meanders its way through forested steep hills and valleys. The trail skirts two ponds and Onion Creek, and you can glimpse downtown Austin from where this box is hiding. Thanks to PI Joe for bringing me to this park, and since his box was Holiday-themed I have done the same.

Directions:
From TX 130 go east on Hwy 71 about 1 mile then turn left into Southeast Metro Park. Bear right at first jct and go away from sports fields to end and park on right by Primitive Trail.

Clues:
Walk on trail to shelter with benches and continue right to jct at marker #60 for loop trail. Go left (clockwise) past marker #4 to second pond and continue around the left of it. Go past marker #19, across bridge, past Group Camping Area to marker #36. Continue 128 steps to bench on left at viewpoint just before marker #38. A few steps behind the bench is a cedar tree with the LB in its crotch under bark and rocks, so find your best access to it. When done stamping, continue around loop back to marker #60 and go left to parking lot.

Hike length: 2-3 miles
