Big Bang in a Little Box
The Old Arsenal Museum, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

This building was erected about 1835 as a powder magazine and Arsenal for a U.S. Army Post. The museum is located on the grounds adjacent to the new capitol building on Capitol Lake Drive in downtown Baton Rouge. It is open Tuesday through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a small admission fee. You don’t have to visit the museum to find the letterbox, but you will enjoy it if you do.

Find the two cannons near the arsenal. They are on an Indian Mound that dates to 1000 A.D.

One of the cannons fired. It made a loud boom. It went straight, but it didn’t go far. The box fell into the ground cover against the cement retaining wall. It is a micro-box , so you’ll have to search very carefully and bring your own pen and stamp pad.

Happy hunting!
