Blue Sky Ecological Reserve is a 700-acre oak lined canyon surrounded by coastal sage scrub and chaparral-covered hills. The main trail runs along a creek, dry in the summer, and the wide trail makes it an enjoyable hike. It is a one way trip, so you can turn back once you reach the letterbox or continue on through the beautiful surroundings.
1. ) From the parking lot follow the marked path to the main, wide dirt trail.
2.) Continue along the trail passing a signpost with information about Blue Sky and the flora and fauna that inhabit the land.
3.) Continue along the main trail down a hill until you reach a sign. Follow the creek-side trail down a hill to the oak lined creek bed. Most of the hike is shaded by the ancient oak trees.
4.) Continue on the creek-side trail until you are about half way along.
5.) Look for a large rock supported by two smaller rocks and an oak V. A contrasting rock shields the letterbox from unsuspecting eyes.
Please replace the letterbox exactly as you found it, and please send me an email at Libby.Mills7th@gmail.com about the condition of the letterbox.
NOTES:
-The creek-side trail is closed to dogs, but the main trail is open
to them. The creek-side trail connects to the main trail on both
ends.
-Be careful of poison oak and ivy
Thank you for taking the time to find the letterbox, and I hope you enjoy the rest of what Blue Sky has to offer. For more information about Blue Skye, please visit their website at http://www.blueskyreserve.org/.
