Terrain Difficulty: Easy (slight slope, 0.2 mile RT)
Status: alive
Though bananas are grown throughout Hawaii, my favorite is the "apple banana" grown in the Hana area. They have a smooth, creamy texture and taste both tangy and sweet. You can find these bananas at fruits stands on the road to Hana, then eat them while you find this box on the Waikamoi Nature Trail.
Directions:
Go east on the Hana Hwy to just past mile marker #9 to a broad shoulder on the right that serves as a parking lot for the Waikamoi Nature Trail.
Clues:
Walk up the trail and go left (clockwise) on loop to small stone wall at jct with trail going up to picnic area. Look right and slightly behind to large tree with big-leaf vine on it. Go around left side and look for LB next to root under a frond and rocks. Please be discreet and replace as described, then continue around loop.
Hike length: 0.5 miles
