This letterbox is part of the GO and Build a Better World! program in York County, PA. It will be available from June 3, 2017 to August 20, 2017. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
The GO and Build a Better World! program requires you to search for up to 30 “landmarks” – wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please use a colored pencil or crayon to carefully rub the impression onto your GO and Build a Better World! rubbing sheet, available for free at any York County Library.
This letterbox is located at Reservoir Park. GO York! level of difficulty = Moderate.
- Starting from the parking lot, walk through fence opening labeled by a sign that says “Park Entrance”.
- Turn left at the paved road and walk downhill for about 225 yards.
- When you reach a Y in the road, stay to the left and continue downhill on the road.
- Walking downhill the woods will be on your left and a steep grass hill on your right.
- Continue walking until you come to another Y in the road. Stay to the left and continue downhill.
- At the next intersection in the road, walk straight into the grass lawn. In about 75 yards, you will come to a large tree. Here is where you will find the post. Take a minute and enjoy the view of York City.
- To return to your vehicle, turn around and go back the way you came.
