This letterbox is part of the GO and Build a Better World! program in York County, PA. It will be available from June 3, 2017 to August 20, 2017. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.

The GO and Build a Better World! program requires you to search for up to 30 “landmarks” – wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please use a colored pencil or crayon to carefully rub the impression onto your GO and Build a Better World! rubbing sheet, available for free at any York County Library.

This letterbox is located at Gifford Pinchot State Park and may be accessed from the Boat Mooring Area #3 parking lot. GO York! level of difficulty = Moderate.

- Start at Boat Mooring area #3 off Alpine Road.
- Look for the trail to the right of the parking area, near the boat racks close to the lake.
- Follow the sign for Lakeside Trail, keeping the lake to your left.
- Watch your footing…the trail goes up a rocky incline!
- The trail might get a little muddy and rocky…continue, always keeping the lake to your left.
- The trail will get really rocky in some areas – look for the stacked rocks to the right. They are the remnants of an old stone wall or foundation from when this park was farm land.
- You will come to a shallow, forest stream – cross over it using the rocks.
- Look for a double trunk tree in the shape of a “V” to your left, near a smaller tree with a blue rectangle painted on it. The “V” tree sits close to the water and has a flat rock near it with a great view of the lake; here you will find what you are looking for!
- If you come to the end of the trail where it opens up at the top of the dam, you have gone too far!
