Directions to park: Frontier Park is located along the Missouri river in St. Charles, MO. The historic area of St.Charles runs above the river along Main Street, and is well worth a day trip, with great shopping, food, museums and even casinos. Take I-70 and exit at Fifth Street. Follow the signs to Main Street/Historic St. Charles.

The Explorers

ON May 21, 1804 Lewis and Clark left to explore the west for a possible water route to the Pacific from St.Charles. After a 2 year journey they returned to St. Charles on September 21, 1806. Be sure to visit the Lewis and Clark Museum in the park.

Head to the gigantic statue of Lewis, Clark and their faithful dog. Stand in front of the dog, and look due east at the 3 big rocks. It's under the middle rock.
***As of August 2004, there is a smaller rock in front of the big rock-you'll have to lift it to get the box, and it's a 2 person job to lift the rock and get the box!****

The French
***PULLED FOR LOG BOOK REPLACEMENT-BACK IN SEPTEMBER!****

I had informative, historic blurbs here about the french in St. Charles, but have since forgotten them, and am too lazy to go look them up!

Go north through the park to the bandstand. Look for the river side set of steps, and look under the bushes near the last stair.
