Two easy boxes in Penwood State Park, located on Rt. 185 in Bloomfield. Turn into the park at the customary state park sign (except this one has been temporarily taken down for painting).

On the way in notice a sign on the left with the symbolic hiking symbol. This will be your starting point after parking the car but instead of taking the trail where the sign points, go through the log gate and walk along the woods path until you come to a large old fireplace on the right. This must have been a picnic spot during the park's hey-day. Look behind the fireplace for a large three finger tree. one finger is barren. Go 12 steps to this tree. Behind in the large hollow under bark and rock.

After making sure that the box is carefully replaced, go back to the parking lot and follow the paved road to the right of the stone memorial. Just after the end of Gale Pond look to the right for another symbolic trail sign with a red tree on it and is blazed red. Houses on the right are very close to the edge of the trail most of the way. There are two white metal culverts to cross over, after the second one take 160 steps to an old large maple tree on the left side of the trail. Under the rock overhang on the left side of the tree is where you will find Whatt? Me Forget?

Be especially cautious because you may be seen from a path above you.
Go back to your car or forward to find Measure Up and thanks for visiting.
