A total solar eclipse occurs when the disk of the moon appears to completely cover the disk of the sun in the sky, and on August 21, 2017, one touched U.S. soil for the first time in 26 years. The path of totality was about 70 miles wide and stretched from Oregon to South Carolina, allowing people in this swath to experience twilight in the middle of the day. On my way to viewing this spectacle in Casper, WY, I placed this box in Vedauwoo Recreation Area, just outside the path of totality.
Directions:
Take I80 east 15.8 miles to Vedauwoo Road/ exit 329 and turn left onto Vedauwoo Road then left to entrance station for Vedauwoo Recreation Area. Continue toward picnic area then left to Turtle Rock Trail head and park.
Clues:
Walk to far end of lot and go on trail (not one in middle of lot) about 1.5 mile to where trail goes between boulders and a leaning pine tree on left with view of pond. From pine tree, go back 10 steps on trail then go left and up 8 steps to crevice between boulders with a "roof" boulder over it. LB is under roof behind right boulder under rocks.
