Mardi Gras Microbox
placed February 22, 2004
Clues: easy
Terrain: flat, except for the drunks you may trip over if you get this box in the next few days!
***This box was reported gone after the hurricane, but then December 2004, someone found it?! I haven't had a chance to check it, so as of 31 Jan 2005, it is MAYBE there****
The letterbox is in a film canister, and the stamp was carved on the drive down today. It commemorates our very first Mardi Gras! In fact, it was hidden during the tail end of the Krewe of Thoth parade on St.Charles Ave.
Clues: Put your party hat on, grab some beads and get on down to St. Charles Ave. Watch a parade (this part of town is more "family oriented, so if your looking for something wilder in a parade, head to the French Quarter!)On St.Charles Ave, between St.Andrew and Josephine streets, you'll see the Pontchartrain and Grand Boutique Hotels. In the middle of them, next to a cleaners, are 4 palmettos against an iron fence. The 3rd one from the left has little fronds sticking out of the bottom, check behind those for the box. I hope it survives the post-Mardi Gras clean up!
