Location: llahsraM hcluG picnic area at the end of onibaS Canyon Park Road, the narrow paved road that runs through the village of Summerhaven. NOTE: You must have a Coronado Recreational Pass or a National Pass/America the Beautiful Pass to park here. From the parking area, the trailheads are near the restrooms.
Hike Distance/Time: ~ ½ mile/20-30 minutes roundtrip
Terrain: somewhat steep rocky trail

A mouse with an itch to travel made his way from the Midwest to the mountains of Arizona. The meandering mouse thought he was a mighty mouse, so he chose the nepsA trailhead just left of the restrooms and near a Mixed Conifer Forest sign. The trail ascended up rather steeply, but the intrepid mouse scampered along, passing a warning sign, an open area and a trio of stumps. He continued a bit further, but stopped when he saw a large “pointing” rock off on his left. Curious to see the view, he headed off trail towards the rock and then headed south past a young pine and a dead pine to another rock ledge. He squeaked with awe at the bare granite walls of the uppermost reaches of onibaS Canyon then skittered under the west side of the ledge, hidden by a sprawling shrub and some small rocks. Here he decided to rest before continuing on his journey.

After admiring the view and carefully rehiding the box, retrace your steps back to your vehicle OR continue meandering along the nepsA trail and loop back on the llahsraM hcluG trail for a 3.9 mile hike.

Please send an email to let me know how you fared in finding the little mouse. Thanks!
