This is the final stamp (and second carve after the first was stolen) in our Hunger Games Trilogy Series. Each of the three Hunger Games Novels in the series took the idea of the Mockingjay Pin that Katniss wore in the first book, and updates it to reflect the changing theme of the subsequent books. The first book (and first stamp) depicts just the Mockingjay, a fictional cross breeding of two birds, holding an arrow. The second novel's cover featured the Mockingjay designed to appear more like a phoenix hence the title, Catching Fire. The Third and final variation is of course the Mockingjay with wings outstretched, in flight, signifying the freedom that the characters in the third book are displaying after their struggles to destroy the capitol.
You may find this third and final stamp of ours in a historical landmark of Boerne that almost NO ONE is even aware of. True, 90% of the time this terrific location is closed to the public with very strange operating hours, and unless you were a cub scout pack going on a tour of the place, you're likely to be unaware of its existence. First, you must travel to the City of Boerne Utilities Building, commonly known as the Old Boerne Highschool built in 1947.
Off Blanco Road just a jaunt from Main Street, you will turn into The Utilities Building's parking lot, and try will want to park on the far left side underneath the shade of some very large trees. When you get out, look around for a large (10ft) stone archway that is adorned at the top with a metal name plate that reads, "Historical House". Walk through the archway and begin heading uphill on the sidewalk for 108 steps.

What you are approaching ahead of you is the Historical House monument in Boerne. This area is a collection of original homes and businesses that dotted the landscape of Boerne in the late 1800's. If ever you are wanting to take a tour, speak with the folks at the Genealogical Center next door, and their are great people who will lead you through the house, General Store and all the other buildings assembled here. Upon reaching the top of the hill, right in front of the house you will come to a "T" crossing in the sidewalk. To the right will be the Kuhlmann-King House from the 1880's, and to the left, the sidewalk continues around and to the back far side of the building.
Take the path to the left, going around the house. After about 20 or so steps, stop once you have reached the Historical Marker that tells of the "Graham Building." You will notice, directly to the left of the marker, an old cobblestone fence/wall erected that goes the length of the property. The letterbox will be located apprx. 9 steps past the Historical Marker hidden among the stones that form the wall. It is a camo-covered letterbox, to deter from curious visitors, but rest assured, 9 steps off the sidewalk, past the "Graham House" marker, there she lies. Make sure to replace it very well as we don't want anyone else the wiser of its location!!!

-We hope you had fun collecting all three of our first (and subsequently 2nd) attempts at hand-carving!
