*** Part of my TX Baseball Series ***
Terrain Difficulty: Easy (flat, 400 yards RT)
Recommended Ink: red & blue
Status: alive
In 1888, the Austin Hix and Austin Red Sox merged to form the first Austin Senators, charter members of the Texas League. Different incarnations of the Senators played in Austin until 1967 and they won multiple league championships. They played at Riverside Park, just southeast of the Congress Avenue Bridge and near West Bouldin Creek Greenbelt, where this box can be found.
Directions:
From Barton Springs Rd go south on Dawson Rd for 0.3 mile and continue for 0.2 mile as it changes to 5th St. Turn right on Gibson St then immediate right on 6th St and park by West Bouldin Creek Greenbelt.
Clues:
Walk on trail, crossing creek, and bear right at Y jct to creek bed. Don't cross, but go left 25 steps on path along creek then left off trail 23 steps up to a double-trunk tree with ivy. LB is at back base under a rock & leaves.
Hike length: 0.1 miles
