Ross "Pep" Youngs was born in Shiner, TX in 1897, but soon moved to San Antonio where he was educated at West Texas Military Institute and excelled at baseball. He made his professional baseball debut for the Austin Senators of the Texas League in 1914, and made his major league debut with the New York Giants in 1917. In 1918, Youngs became the starting right fielder and batted .302 in 121 games. It would be the first of seven straight seasons in which he hit .300 as a regular. Youngs's career was abruptly cut short in 1926, when he was diagnosed with a kidney disorder and died of Bright's disease on October 22, 1927, at the age of 30. Over his 10 year career, Youngs posted 812 runs, 42 home runs, 592 RBI, 153 stolen bases, and .322 career batting average, and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972 by the Veterans Committee. He is buried in Mission Burial Park, where you can find this box.
