In the long history of professional baseball, the Texas League stands out as one of the most historic and interesting of all the minor leagues. Founded in 1888, it continues to operate in South Central U.S. with two divisions and maintains its headquarters in San Antonio. The League's name is well known due to its association with a bloop single that drops between the infielders and outfielders that has been called a Texas Leaguer since the 1890s. Through the years there have been some notable performances: On June 20, 1896, in the greatest outburst of runs in a single inning, the Fort Worth Panthers score 19 runs in the 4th inning against the Galveston Sand Crabs, and on the next to the last day of the 1906 season, Walter "Hickory" Dickson starts and wins both ends of a double header to clinch the second half pennant for the Cleburne Railroaders over the Fort Worth Panthers. You can find this box on the Leon Creek Greenway from Levi Strauss Park.

Directions:
From Hwy 90 go north on S Callaghan Rd for 0.6 mile (going past Wolff Stadium), left on Enrique M Barrera Pkwy (Old Hwy 90) for 0.5 mile, then left into Levi Strauss Park.

Clues:
Walk west on paved Leon Creek Greenway down steps, across a bridge and under Old Hwy 90. At 0.5 mile marker go left between big rocks, across grass and up slope to tree-line at crest and find medium multi-trunk tree a little left. LB is at left side base under a rock, brick & leaves.

Hike length: 0.5 miles
