Walking distance: about 2/10 mile one way
Trail difficulty: easy, a fairly flat paved path
<IMG ALIGN=right SRC="http://nostalgia.esmartkid.com/passports1464.jpg" WIDTH=142 HEIGHT=133> The answers to the questions in the clues for this webbox are located in Pu'ukohola Heiau National Historic Site near the north end of the island of Hawaii. Letterboxes are not allowed to be physically placed in national parks and national historic sites administered by the U. S. National Park Service. So, I have created this webbox. You must actually visit the area of the clues; however, you need to go to the Web to obtain your finders stamp.
Enter Pu'ukohola Heiau National Historic Site which is off of Highway 270 just south of the community of Kawaihae. Park by the visitor center.
Start walking north on the paved path that starts outside the back of the visitor center. At the start of the trail look for an interpretive sign titled “Exploring the Park” subtitled “Walking Back in Time”. In the top paragraph (starts with the words Pu'ukohola Heiau National …”), in the 6th line, what is the 4th word. ______?
Spring 2024 - Wording has changed, might have to try different words. In 6th line, please let me know the correct number.
You might want to take pictures of the signs to prevent future problems!
Continue walking north on the trail and look for the interpretive sign titled “Hale o Kapuni Heiau”. In the left paragraph (starts with the words “The submerged remains …”), in the 4th line, what is the 2nd word ______?
To create the mystery word, put the word from the second question on the end of the word from the first question (without spaces). Paste the mystery word (all letters lower case) into this URL (replacing the question marks “???” with the mystery word):
http://nostalgia.esmartkid.com/???.html
Now, plug/paste/type the new URL into your web browser and you will have completed your search for the Pu’ukohola Heiau Historic Site Webbox.
Please record your find at www.letterboxing.org/ .
