*** Part of my TX Baseball Series ***
Terrain Difficulty: Easy (flat, 0.5 mile RT)
Recommended Ink: blue
Status: alive
The Round Rock Express started out as a Double-A Texas League baseball team affiliated with the Houston Astros, but are now a Triple-A Pacific Coast League team affiliated with the Texas Rangers. The team is owned by RSR Sports (Nolan Ryan, son Reid Ryan, and Don Sanders) and is named after Nolan's nickname, "The Ryan Express". Their home games are played at Dell Diamond, which is near Old Settlers Park, where this box can be found.
Directions:
From I35 go east on Palm Valley Blvd (US 79) for about 3 miles and turn left on Harrell Pkwy into Old Settlers Park. Go 0.8 mile and turn right on Whitlow Way to end and park by Old Settlers Park Trail near Rabb pavilion & playground.
Clues:
Walk east through posts to trail and go right, curving around pavilion, to jct on other side. Go left, cross bridge and curve right to marker F, where you can see the lights of Dell Diamond in the distance. Continue 10 steps and go right 20 steps on faint path into woods, veering a little left to clump of 3 small trees with another tree leaning above them. LB is at base under rocks and leaves.
Hike length: 0.5 miles
