Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was an American singer, songwriter, spokesperson, model, actress, and fashion designer. Called the Queen of Tejano music, her contributions to music and fashion made her one of the most celebrated Mexican-American entertainers of the late 20th century. She was born on April 16, 1971 in Lake Jackson, Texas, and her musical abilities were evident at an early age. After the family moved to Corpus Christi she began performing and growing in popularity. The Quintanilla family appointed Yolanda Saldívar as manager of Selena's boutiques in early 1994, but by 1995 discovered that Saldívar had embezzled more than $30,000. On March 31, 1995, Selena confronted Saldívar in her hotel room at the Days Inn in Corpus Christi and was fatally shot. On April 3, six hundred guests attended Selena's burial at Seaside Memorial Park, where you can pay your respects to the Queen while finding this box.
