***UPDATE 7/19/07*** I was contacted by a geocacher who found this letterbox and apparently the log book is wet. I'll try to get up there and replace the container and log book but it will probably be at least a month before I have any free time. The stamp is still there though if anybody wants to seek it out.

From Gold Beach, take Jerry's Flat Road (County Road 595, turns into Forest Service Road 33) east to Lobster Creek Bridge, approximately 10 miles. Turn left on FS Road 3310, cross the bridge over the Rogue River and take the first right on Silver Creek Road, FS Road #3533. Proceed .25 miles to the trailhead and park at a small turnout on the right.

This is a short trail, about 1/4 mile, but it is all uphill with many switchbacks. When you reach the top you will see Oregon's largest known myrtle tree. The base looks like a good hobbit home!

I believe you need a Northwest Forest Pass to park at the trailhead. If you don't have one you can purchase a day pass for $5 at the trailhead to my other letterbox nearby, "Fairyland Forest".

To find the letterbox: From the picnic table walk uphill along the water. After about 25-30 steps you will see a red rotten log on the left. The letterbox is hidden on the back side of this in a hole with a piece wood wedged in front of it.
