note: 07/07/07 - just heard from a Geocacher that the box is alive and well, but the log sheets are very full! I'll try to tend to it in August.

It's back! And just in time for the Azaleas to bloom. The tree where it was hidden fell down, so I've found a new hiding place nearby. It is smaller this time -- a big micro-box, and it is a hybrid Geocache/Letterbox.

WINTER PARK is a beautiful town just North of Orlando. This short drive takes you through downtown, past lakefront mansions, to the Kraft Azalea Gardens where the box is hidden. The Azaleas bloom in February, the month the box was planted. The box is in honor of four generations of letterboxers getting together to celebrate 7th, 37th, and 88th birthdays.

From Park Avenue in Winter Park, with your back to Rollins College, drive North.

Pass the Morse Museum (known for its collection of Tiffany Glass) and the golf course. Turn right on Stovin Ave. and again right onto Palmer. Go 0.5 miles until you cross a bridge decorated with flamingos. Turn Left onto Alabama. Go 0.2 miles to the parking lot for the Kraft Azalea Gardens (no parking after sundown).

AT KRAFT AZALEA GARDENS:

When you find Grecian Columns at the water's edge, PAUSE FRIEND LET BEAUTY REFRESH THE SPIRIT.

Standing in the center of the semicircle, look out at the lake.

Walk North along the lake's edge about 25 paces to three trees -- a cypress, a palm and an oak, all growing from the same spot.

Search the crevice between the palm and the cypress.

ENJOY.

Please be discreet and make sure the coast is clear, and carefully nestle the letterbox back in the same crevice, covering it with chips.

We'd love to hear your thoughts and comments about the condition of the box. summerkitchen@cfl.rr.com
