Interstate 95 Letterboxes
Home
LBNA
With all the recent discussion on the LBNA talk-list, we have decided to start a series of letterboxes in southeastern CT that are easily accessible from I-95. I-95 is the main artery of travel in southern Connecticut and connects New York City with Boston. This highway also connects several wonderful letterboxing havens in this lovely little state! Enjoy!
Travelling Man - Exit 75, East Lyme
I-95 north from Old Lyme area: Take exit 75, as you bear right off the exit take note of the old Lulu's Steakhouse on the left side (its now got signs for Herb Chamber's Saturn). Pull into the first driveway on the left after the driveway for Lulu's. This will be the driveway directly before the one with the large silver mailbox. If you hit Waterford, you went too far.
I-95 south from New London: Exit 75. Take the turn-around on the left to go back over the highway towards Waterford. Again, cross over the highway and take the driveway just past Lulu's (Herb Chamber's) on the left. Its the one before the silver mailboxed driveway.
To the box: Drive down the end of this roadway and into the cemetery. You can either park and walk or drive once through the stone gate. In the NW corner of the cemetery note the gap in the stone wall behind the closest obelisk. Left side of the gap find the travelling man in the face of the wall.
