Walking distance: about 0.1 mile one way
Trail difficulty: fairly easy, flat and partially paved and partially dirt.
The answers to the questions in the clues for this webbox are located in Casa Grande Ruins National Monument in central Arizona. Letterboxes are not allowed to be physically placed in national parks and monuments and other sites administered by the U. S. National Park Service. So, I have created this webbox. You must actually visit the area of the clues; however, you need to go to the Web to obtain your finders stamp.
Go to Casa Grande Ruins National Monument. Park in the lot by the visitor center.
Walk through the visitor center and out the back door to the ruins. Look for a colorful interpretive sign titled “Who were these Ancestral Sonoran Desert People?”. In the 2nd paragraph on the left below the title (starts with the words “Archeologists today …”), in the 2nd line, what is the first word _____?
Now, walk through the ruins area and look for a colorful interpretive sign titled “Irrigation Communities”. In the first paragraph on the left below the title (starts with the words “The walled compound …”, in the 2nd line, what is the 5th word _____?
To create the mystery word, put the word from the second question on the end of the word from the first question (without spaces). Paste the mystery word (all letters lower case) into this URL (replacing the question marks “???” with the mystery word):
http://nostalgia.esmartkid.com/???.html
Now, plug/paste/type the new URL into your web browser and you will have completed your search for the Casa Grande Ruins Monument Webbox.
Please record your find at www.letterboxing.org/ .
