Despite reports that box #3 Philly LbNA is missing, someone just reported it is in place. However, #2 is now assumed MIA. If you happen to find it, please send me a report. Thanks.

Green Lane Nature Center in located off route 29, just north of the intersection of Rts 63 and 29. From Rt 63, take 29 North about 1 mile, past an entrance to Green Lane Park and just past Marlborough Elementary School. There is a small sign for the Nature Center on the left, just above the school's sign.

Park in the Nature Center lot and find the Hemlock Point Nature Trail.

These boxes were placed for the Greater Philadelphia Leap Day Gathering held on February 29, 2004.

Box 1: Hemlock Point
The trail starts on the right hand side of the Nature Center. If it’s still icy, watch out! I fell flat on my back. Bear left when given the choice. Follow the Hemlock Point Trail. Go past #5. You will come to a gnarly stump with many holes on your left. About 12 Dad paces past this stump you will see a large downed tree on the left. (~15 paces from the trail). The Hemlock Point box is in a fork of this tree.

Box 2: Sugar Maple Festival
Continue on the Past #10. You will eventually see a picnic table in a beautiful setting over looking the reservoir. From the table on a bearing of 315 degrees you will see a 2 trunked tree. Just below this tree is a rock outcropping under which you will find Maple Sugar Festival.

Box 3: Philly LbNA
The trail continues toward the water. Follow the yellow arrow to the left. Lots of birds in this section of the trail. Nuthatches, Chickadees, Titmice. Check out that splintered tree. Lightning, you think? See the next yellow arrow? Six paces (1 pace = 2 steps) before the arrow there is a long downed tree. Look in the roots.

Box 4: Green Lane Nature Center
Back to the trail. Be sure to turn left at the arrow. You should see #16 pretty soon. Follow the trail uphill till it hits a much wider trail. Turn left. Watch for a bark hut on your right. Check it out, but be careful you don’t knock it down. About 20 feet away from this hut is a large tree, knocked down. Somewhere near the middle, underneath is box #4.
Be sure to use all edges of the stamp. Guaranteed inky fingers. Your badge of Honor. Wear it proudly.
The wide trail just beyond the fallen tree will take you back to the
Nature Center.

Hope you had fun! The Raindears.
Please email us to report your find and the status of the boxes.
