Terrain Difficulty: Easy (flat, 200 yards RT)
Status: alive
The longjaw mudsucker is noted for its extremely large mouth and ability to survive out of water for short periods. Though it is found along the coast of California, you can find this one at Arkansas Bend Park on the Longjaw trail.
Directions:
From FM 1431 go south on Lohman Ford Rd for 4.4 miles, left on Sylvester Ford Rd for 0.7 mile, then continue onto Cherry Ln for 0.9 mile into Arkansas Bend Park. Go right at jct to end and park at Day Use Area near restrooms.
Clues:
Walk left of restrooms on sidewalk and go left on Longjaw Trail for 108 steps along cove to cedar tree next to trail on left. Go up behind it to group of three medium oak trees with big rocks at base. LB is at front tree base under flat rock & leaves.
Hike length: 0.1 miles
