Take Route 278 into Hilton Head and into the Sea Pines Plantation. Take South Sea Pines Drive toward the South Beach Marine Village. Before you reach the village, you will see a blue and green water tower on the left. This marks Tower Beach. (Also: When you pay the $5 toll to get to Hilton Head, you should be given a map--Tower Beach is labeled if you need it.)

Park anywhere. Face the pavilion and ocean. Walk the boardwalk toward the shore. Pass the restrooms on the right, then the pavilion on the left. Approach stairs leading to the shore. You will see a bench, a tree, and showers to the right. At the top of the 5 steps, you will find your treasure under the boardwalk on the right hand side. Be sure to comb the beach for awhile. We found Tower Beach to be an excellent place to find sand dollars, starfish, and shells; especially shark eyes, whelks, and olives.
