Take a break on the way to the beach via US70 or on the way to points west from the coast. It's the last rest area on the way down and the first before the stretch of road between New Bern and Kinston. This is a microbox so take an ink pad and pen with you.
Pull off at exit SR1225/Clarks and follow the signs to the rest area. Drive around to the back and park in front of the restroom building entrance. Check out the 'communication device' at the back side of the building. Look under the bushes behind and to the right of the 'device'.
Careful now, this is in the wide-open spaces! Have a safe trip no matter which way you are going.
