Dad's Birthday Box placed by Peace Amy
March 15, 2004
In attempt at something different for a present, a letterbox has been placed to celebrate Dad's ?? Birthday. This short stroll is his favorite spot in Arcadia, and he can often be found here early in the morning enjoying the wildlife. Dad has taught me to love the outdoors and everything that it holds, so I hope this letterbox will provide him with a little something extra to his morning walk.
This mile stroll can be reached from two ends, one end at Summit Rd, off of Rte.165, or on Bates Schoolhouse Rd., located near Browning Mill Pond on Arcadia Rd. (Bring clues for "The Four Seasons") For this box however, take Bates Schoolhouse Rd. and follow until the blazes for the North/South Trail appear next to a gated off area. Park at the gate and begin your walk.
Cross the gate and follow the blue blazes up the road for about a half of a mile. A small sign will appear, "Loop Trail", and you will leave the blue blazes. Follow the loop as it veers left. Shortly you will arrive at another intersection, a loop inside the loop. Standing at the point of the intersection, take a reading of 180 degrees and follow. Heading south for approximately a quarter of a mile, a side path for bikers will appear on your left. Standing on the rock in the middle of this path, take a reading of 45 degrees, and follow, stopping at the tree bent in half. Standing still, locate the "V" tree in the east. 15 paces towards the "V", stop and search around the mossy knoll. Stamp in, remembering to wish Dad a Happy Birthday and re-hide well. Return to the path and continue around the loop.
