Difficulty: Moderate Strenuous
Distance to Letterbox: 9 miles RT
Great hiking trail to Hungry Packer Lake. Multiple alpine lakes, streams and mountain views. This box is located at Dingleberry Lake, so not all the way to the end.
Directions:
From Bishop and Hwy 395, go west on Line Street (Hwy 168) for 18 miles to near end of the road. The trailhead is on the left, and you may be able to park in spots along road. If not, go on to end of road and parking area on right before marina.
To the Letterbox:
Hike along shore of Sabrina Lake. Pass trail on left to Lake George.
Climb granite slopes with views of Sabrina lake, then cross into back country up drainage. At 3 miles you reach Blue Lake. Continue on trail along shore (and log crossing) to junction. Go right and pass Emerald lakes. You will then climb a granite ridge and eventually at 4.3 miles will reach an overlook with view down to Dingleberry Lake. Continue down to lakeshore and reach wood sign. Go right on trail for 60 steps up to a flat slab and big tree on right of trail. Box is at far base of that tree, under limbs and Rock.
