Girl Scouts Arizona Cactus Pine
There are three common squirrels in the Arizona Sonoran Desert; the rock squirrel, the round tailed ground squirrel, and the Harris' antelope ground squirrel.
Juliet Gordon Law the founder of Girl Scouts encourage girls to get out into nature. Exploring parks and other nature preserves as well as attending summer camp. Campers sign songs around the campfire inspired by our furry friends "grey squirrel, grey squirrel, swish your bushy tail..."
Drive to Rose Mofford Sports Complex ( 9833 N 25th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85021).
1. Enter through the main entrance and park in front of the Rose Mofford Sports Complex
2. Follow the side walk turns the soccer fields heading North, as you walk you will see a 0.0 mile marking on the ground. That means you are heading in the right direction.
3. At the first set of bleachers you see turn right and head across the field. Watch out for soccer players!!
4. Once you notice a second set of bleachers, behind them is a path that you will follow by turning left (North)
5. As you walk you will be surprised by seeing on your left the only saguaro cactus in the park...but wait! this cactus is not alone, and is pointing to his friend that sits quietly to left.
6. In front of this second saguaro friend you will get to the root of this letter box mystery.
Hike length: 0.5 miles
