This Lone Star native came from the small southwestern ranch towns of Poteet and Pearsall to become one of the biggest stars in country music. Since his 1981 debut, Strait Country, through the 20th Century Masters Millennium Collection Best of, Strait has earned 25 platinum albums. He has also earned four American Music Awards, 11 Academy of Country Music honors and 15 Country Music Association nods, among his record 70 nominations. One of his early fan favorites was the song "Amarillo By Morning", so I thought it would be appropriate to place this microbox in Amarillo; specifically in Wildcat Bluff Nature Center. Just a few minutes drive from downtown Amarillo, it consists of over 600 acres of grassland threaded with a nature trail, offering a sense of isolation and tranquility. So come enjoy Amarillo by morning while looking for this microbox.

Directions:
Turn North from I-40 West in Amarillo onto Loop 335 (Soncy Rd.). Proceed for 3 miles and Wildcat Bluff Visitor Center will be seen on the left just before Loop 335 crosses Tascosa Road and curves to the northeast.

Clues:
Go to the Visitor Center to pay fee and exit the back. Turn right (north) and walk past the Science Center and through a fence to the trail heads. Take the Wildcat Bluff trail to the right (east) for 25 steps to where the trail bends left (north). Continue another 100 steps to a point where the trail starts snaking west. Turn left (south) and walk 8 steps to a sprawling thorn bush. Look on its back side inside a hollow limb near the base under a large rock for the microbox. Please re-cover well.
