Drive out of Flagstaff on Highway 180 toward Grand Canyon. About 4 miles out of town you will see the Northern Arizona Museum. Pull into the parking lot farthest from town on the western side of the museum. At the far western edge of the parking lot parallel to highway 180 you will see a hiking trail.
Stand at post on the start of the trail heading northwest. Walk 30 steps and see the largest triangle shaped boulder on the right. Look under the boulder on the side closest to the highway. You will find the ponderosa pine stamp representing the largest stand of ponderosa pines in the United States. Look around and enjoy the lovely trees.
