Rogers Hornsby, nicknamed The Rajah, was a major league baseball infielder who played for 23 seasons, mostly at second base with the St. Louis Cardinals. He was born in 1896 in Winters, TX and became one of the best hitters of all time with a career batting average of .358, second only to Ty Cobb's .367. He also holds the single season record for batting average with .424, set in 1924. He died in 1963 and is buried in Hornsby Bend Cemetery near Austin, but you can find this box in his hometown at Fairview Cemetery.
