Difficulty: Moderate
Distance: About 2.8 miles round trip
Nice hike to pretty lake.
Directions:
From Bishop, go west off Hwy 395 on Hwy 168 for 18 miles. Shortly before Aspendell, turn right on (dirt) North Lake Road and go 1.6 miles, then turn right for parking near Bishop Outfitters Pack Station.
To the Letterbox:
Walk back to the main road, then go right, uphill on road for .6 miles to the trailhead sign in the campground. Go left to bathrooms, then right of them on wide trail. Look for sign to go left on Lamarck lakes trail, and go that way. At 1.4 miles you reach a junction for Glass Lake. Go left and continue down to shore. Just before there is a large pine with a blaze on it, then trails going straight and left to shore. Instead, turn around and go back up the main trail 20 steps to trail going off to the right, Turn right on that trail and go 3 steps. Go left off trail past low rock to big rock. Box is to right of that rock in crevasse, under rock.
Enjoy the lake, then return the way you came, or go up to Lamarck Lakes.
