This is the 11th box in our ‘Legends of Jackson County’ series.

It is well known (at least among rabid basketball fans) that “Bevo” Francis set the single game college scoring record in a basketball game against Ashland Kentucky Junior College on January 9, 1953 while playing for Rio Grande College. What is not generally known is that the game was played on the court at Jackson High School thus giving Jackson county another (somewhat obscure) legend. He scored 116 points in the game that Rio somehow managed to win 150 – 85. That Bevo’s achievement has lasted over 50 years is all the more remarkable when you consider the dramatic changes that have occurred in the game since then and the great superstars that have played in the years since. We have planted a box in honor of Bevo’s grand achievement. You can find the box if you know what Bevo’s real first name is.

As always, spacing is for ease of transcription only.
