To the trailhead:
(NW Forest pass or $5. fee for parking required)
From hwy 18, pass Rose Lodge Store, turn south on Bear Creek Road, follow signs 9.5 miles to the trailhead. You will pass the Drift Creek covered bridge (built in 1914) along the way.
From hwy 101, just south of Lincoln City, turn east on Drift Creek Rd., follow signs 10 miles to trailhead.
The search: This is an easy beautiful coastal forest trail through pacific silver firs, lots of ferns, to one of Oregon's lesser known falls. The creek gets it's name from driftwood found along the banks. 1.25 miles takes you to a fabulous suspension bridge (built in 1998), spanning the creek just above the falls. Lovely view!! Keep going another quarter mile to the base of the falls, for an even better view. On your way back take a rest at the first bench past the falls. Nestled on the right of the twin hemlocks in front of you is what you seek, under bark.
