This is a child and dog-friendly hunt. (but please bring pooper-scooper supplies)
From Main St. in Arendtsville find Glenwood Drive. This isn’t hard since Main St. isn’t so big! Turn into Glenwood and follow it back to where it curves around. On your right, between two yellow houses find the entrance to the Arendtsville Walking Trail and Water Preserve. Park at the curb and begin your walk.
Start the trail by going over the big culvert. No challenges here just follow the trail and take pleasure in the fields surrounding you. (If you look to the far right, you can see the second story of the box planters’ house)
Where the trail forks, go left. The woods beside you are full of bird life and are wet lands. After the “S” curve of the trail, stay on it to cross the first small culvert.
Go to the stone bench ahead of you. Stop there for a while. You aren’t far from the box! Stand against the bench and look for the second small culvert at the threshold of the woods. From your spot you could take a LEAP and CUT CORNERS to the box.
Or continue on foot over the culvert into the woods.
The birds in the house on the right watch over the box. A birds’ eye view from their house will point the way. Look down at the base of the nearest tree. Be careful of stickers! The box is tucked well in – a chunk of wood resting on top, a single rock marking its spot.
After the hunt is complete, just follow the trail around to the starting point, enjoying the orchards and beauty of rural Arendtsville.
