Level of difficulty: super-easy
FYI:
This letterbox is outside the Grey River Wildlife Habitat Management Area, near the Palisades Reservoir, on the way to Jackson Hole from the WY side and past the Alpine Junction from the ID side. The land has provided habitat for a variety of animals including elk, mule deer, moose, black bears, grouse, mountain lions, and others since 1942. In winter the 30 acres near the box are used as one of 23 elk feedgrounds in NW Wyoming and as many as 1000 elk migrate to this spot-quite an impressive sight! The habitat is open to the public from May 1-Nov. 15 (but the letterbox is available all year, if it's not too buried in snow) these lands provide access to the adjacent national forest in the Salt River Range.
Instructions:
The box is located on highway 89 near the observation booth for the habitat (2.3 miles east from the Jackson turnoff in Alpine). The letterbox is hidden between the second and third fence posts to the left of the booth, underneath a board, just behind some sagebrush.
Enjoy! When you are done, continue on to Swan Valley, ID for the Swan Valley Letterbox.
