This letterbox has been revived as a micro geocache site. If it survives a couple of months, I'll carve a new stamp for it. As of now.....it has NO STAMP inside.

Easy walk up.... Maybe some snacks for the squirrels!

In search of the "ADENA MOUNDS"

From Ohio Rt.52, cross the Ashland/Coal Grove twin bridge over the Ohio River. Proceed South on Rt.60 (merging to the left lane) about 4 blocks. Turn East at the "Speedway" on Lexington Ave. and go East a few blocks towards King's Daughter's Hospital. A block before the hospital, you turn North at "Chuck Woolery Blvd." (No kidding) Turn East on "Chattin Drive" and park near the pond with the fountains. It's a nice stroll from here. Walk due North to the paved path and proceed Northwest till you get to the mounds.
There used to be many more Adena/Hopewell Indian mounds spread throughout Ashland before development destroyed them. From the air they were described as resembling a "String of Beads".....Legend has it, that some of the conical mounds were formed by dirt being spread over the body of a chieftain buried in a standing position! Are you scared yet?
Now, let's find the letterbox. Stand atop the Easternmost mound. (Say a few nice words to the chief) Look to the Northeast. Past the bandstand you'll see a stone wall that skirts the south side of a tennis court. Walk East along the wall till it ends. Follow the channel down. Some old timbers step down to ground level. The letterbox can be found here. The tarmac corner makes an arrow to the camo pill bottle. Please be "sneaky"....maybe even walk back to the car to stamp up.

Hope you enjoyed the hunt! "LETSRACE"

If you're interested in ancient Indian sites, I can direct you to a secret Serpent Mound 15 minutes from here. Email for details.

Send me an email if you find everything in good order.
