The White Memorial Foundation and Conservation Center comprise of 4,000 acres of fields, waters and woodlands, 35 miles of trails, a museum, as well as campgrounds, boating facilities, meeting houses, dormitories and a special area for large outdoor educational and rectional gatherings. This is a Very busy place.
DIRECTIONS: The entrance is located 2 1/2 miles west of the center of Litchfield on route 202. Leave your car in the Museum parking lot and find "Ongley Pond" and the orange trail. Walk in a counter clock direction keeping the pond on your left. Look for the boardwalk that has a 45* (almost) left turn, you will notice a double orange trail blaze on a tree. STOP at the begining of this boardwalk, take a reading of 220*, walk 15 feet to the Big pine tree, then 10 feet to a 5 foot long log. Behind this log you will find "Spring Bunnies" After carefully stamping in(HINT: They are multiplying!!!!) follow the trail over the boardwalk and around the pond, passing a bench where you can sit and maybe see some real bunnies. HINT: They are multiplying. Back on the trail you will pass "The Butterfly Garden" and see where you started from.
