Alive & well as of August 2005.

Gifts from Connecticut Series #10 (GFCS#10)-A CT Lighthouse in UT. Created by Music Woman and planted by A-Bear.

A rocky short hike to find the lighthouse, but the trip was well worth the $8 to hang out with the buffalo on Antellope Island. While here, check out the Antolope Island Letterbox placed by Heather. The lighthouse is accesible in snow, at least the day I hid it. Travelling on I15 I took exit 335 west until reaching the island.

As you drive onto the island, turn right at the "Y" toward the Visitor's Center. Park in the parking lot on the right with a picnic shelter and restrooms before reaching the Visitor's Center.

Enjoy reading the several different ecological signs and keep your eyes out for the California GULL sign. From this sign off in the distance at three hundred degrees you will barely be able to see a bench among the rocks and that bench is where you need to go. If you can't see it, the bench sits below the 2nd highest rock/point (according to me) on the south side of this small peninsula. Find your way there to that bench as there are several ways to get there. If you don't see the bench from the Gull sign, work your way to the south side of the 2 highest points and eventually you will find it. Standing in front of the bench head 5 paces/10 steps at 100 degrees. From that point, head 12 paces/24 steps at ten degrees where you will be on a small trail leading up into the rocks. Continue climbing up those rocks (no need to worry, just remember being a kid again). At the top bear right to a small flat area of dirt and rocks. Proceed north 3 paces/6 steps to a crevace on the right kind of down hill a bit. Several rocks cover A CT Lighthouse in UT letterbox. Please rehide well.

Let us know how your search goes. Thanks again to Connecticut for all their great gifts! =-)
