ARROW OF LIGHT
Planted by Bluebird and Troop Pack 18 on April 25, 2004.
Checked/fixed up 12/2010.
This box is an add-on to the Girl Scout Duo and to two Killingworth Land Trust boxes on Wolf Hollow Trail, so there are now 5 boxes to find, in about an hour and 15 minutes. The trail is mostly flat, with rocky spots and can be wet in spring and after lots of rain!
Directions: Go north on Route 81, past the circle at the Route 80 intersection until you see Killingworth Elementary School on your left and Wolf Hollow Road on your right – about 1/2 mile. Park in the school lot if school is not in session. The trail is across the street, just a few feet south of Wolf Hollow Road. There are no blazes but it is an obvious old town road.
Keep an eye out for rock walls on your right. One will parallel the trail for a while. When you see the second one, go to the far end where you will spot a cave above the trail in a large ledge. Look inside! The scouts enjoyed crawling inside, but you don’t have to go to such an extreme to get the box! The Arrow of Light is an important Boy Scout symbol and the stamp was carved by the den leader.
