The Logging Musuem is open Fridays from 1-4 p.m.

There is 100+ years of Logging History at this museum. It chronicles the history of logging and the lumber industry in Northern Maine. The museum exhibits feature demonstrative panel and antique logging tools.


CLUES:

Follow Route 11 from Main Street Ashland going towards Portage lake. Go down Station Hill cross the bridge take left at yield sign onto the Garfield Road. The Logging Museum is 2/10 of a mile on the left. Or follow Route 11 from Portage Lake approximately 11 miles. Go staight at the bridge on the Garfield Road the Logging Museum is 2/10 of a mile on the left.

Once there look for the log with the saw in the front. On the backside of the log look for a pile of weathered pieces of wood. Underneath is what you seek.

Take time to check out the antique logging equipment and tools. Also the different types of logs.
