Atop this mountain tomb...everlasting memories of firey gloom. Close to the 168 lives lost...lies the Granite Mountain letterbox.

Directions: Driving north on Main Street through Butte (approaching Walkerville)there is a Memorial Marker on the right just on the otherside of the historic Saint Lawrence O'Toole Church. Follow the dirt road past the ghostly remnents of an era passed. You will come to a concrete platform bearing granite and brick. After reading some of Butte's History stand at the foot of the flagpole facing the memorial. Then turn around to see six telephone poles across the dirt drive. Walk about 45 paces to the nearest of poles. At the base and under some granite stones you will find the Granite Mountain letterbox.
